A group of British Muslims have also criticised Ms Khan’s handling of the election result.
The group, known as the British Muslim Labour Party, released a video on Friday expressing their anger at the results.
“We are disappointed that the British Muslims voted for an extremist and racist party,” it said in a video.
“Theresa May and the Tories are failing the British people and should be ashamed of themselves.”
Our Party is here to say that you cannot count on the government to be a champion of the rights of all people and a defender of the values of British democracy.
“If the Tories win the next general election we will not stand by and watch the same people we fought so hard for be voted out of power.”
The video ends with a call for Ms Khan to “change your policies” to win the election.
The party, which is based in Britain, also released a statement on Friday criticising the Conservative Party for not providing “leadership and clarity” for the election and accused Ms Khan of failing to stand up for her own views.
“In 2017 we will be voting in a contest between two extremes,” the statement said.
“Neither of them stand up to the values and ideals of British Islam.”
This is the moment to put the party’s interests first, to support the values we all hold dear, and to stand with the British community in its struggle for justice.””
We will be standing up to this Conservative Party who are failing to represent British Muslims.
“The party said it was committed to holding a referendum on the country’s membership of the European Union.
Ms Khan’s party did not respond to a request for comment.”
It’s disappointing to see that this election has turned out to be an example of a Conservative Party that has failed to represent the values that make us British,” one member of the group said in the video.
The Conservative Party had earlier released a response to the party, saying it had been “clear from the start” that Ms Khan would not be their leader.”
Despite our clear and unequivocal support for a vote on EU membership, it is clear from the outset that Theresa May’s Conservative Party will not be our leader,” the party said in its response.”
As the leader of the British Labour Party we have seen our values challenged and we will stand together with the other candidates for election to take a firm stand on the future of the country.
“Ms Khan, who has previously defended the right of people to express their opinions on controversial issues, has been widely criticised for her refusal to criticise the Conservatives.
She has also been criticised for not having more robust policy on Islam and Muslim immigration, which has caused tensions within the Muslim community in the UK.”
I think it’s really important to look at the policies and the policies of the party.
It’s been clear from day one that the Tories have been out of touch with the concerns of British people, particularly Muslim communities,” Ms Khan said.
